Maryland is Honoring the 6888th Central Postal Directory Battalion in the Month of March for Women’s History Month! Formed in 1944, this incredible unit of African-American women broke barriers during WWII, clearing a massive mail backlog for U.S. troops in Europe. Despite facing discrimination, they proved pivotal in maintaining soldier morale with their exceptional efficiency. Their dedication not only ensured victory over mail chaos but also marked a victory in the fight for equality. Today, their legacy inspires generations, with African-American women making up a significant portion of the U.S. Army. Let's celebrate their resilience and lasting impact! Over the course of the next month we will be posting about Maryland’s 6888th Battalion members and various events around the state honoring their service! #6888thBattalion?#WomensHistory?#MarylandHistory
