Exciting transformations are ahead! What began as a building systems upgrade has since blossomed into a series of major renovations to Boston University's Warren Towers, the second largest collegiate residence hall in the U.S. Project priorities include achieving BU's decarbonization goals, boosting the social and emotional well-being of occupants, and enhancing the student experience through a redesign of student lounge and gather spaces, dining facility, and bathrooms. A special thank you to Shawmut Design and Construction and RW Sullivan Engineering for being part of this team!

Yesterday, we attended the Project Launch for the renovation of Burnell Hall at Bridgewater State University. When completed, Burnell Hall will house the College of Education and Health Sciences and mark one of the school's largest academic capital improvement projects. MDS worked closely with the school and a diverse range of students on an equitable and inclusive design process that adhered to the school's proud tradition of providing opportunity to all students without exception.

We are so excited to lead this transformation of Warren Towers along with Shawmut Design and Construction. With many thoughtful and strategic interventions, Warren Towers will continue to house many of BU's first-year students for a longtime to come. We look forward to sharing more of this story throughout the construction process.
This month, Boston University will begin a three-and-a-half-year, $550 million rehab that will give Warren Towers a makeover. When work is completed, Warren will boast new plumbing and security systems, infrastructure for 21st-century information technology, a remodeled dining hall with new equipment, and net-zero greenhouse emissions. Oh, and did we mention air-conditioned rooms? During the work, which will culminate in the summer of 2028, each of the 18-story towers will close for more than a year, on a staggered schedule to accommodate the renovations. We are thrilled to bring the spotlight to Fabiola Lara, an Interior Designer with MDS who was recently interviewed by NBC Channel 10 news for her involvement with Boston's Artists for Humanity. The organization is the largest employer of teens and young adults in the city of Boston and has been a passion of Fabiola's for the work that it does facilitating paid employment opportunities in art and design for under-resourced teens.??
We can't think of a better way to end our youth summer employment session than with an interview with NBC Channel 10 News! Thank you Mimi Wishner Segel, Shira Stoll, and the NBC Channel 10 team for showcasing our talented teens, mentors, and alumni. AFH employed over 460 youth and young adults this summer—generating nearly $1.4 million in summer wages for Boston teens and young adults working at AFH and, as a Coalition Lead for the City of Boston, 10 Boston nonprofits. Watch the clip to spot familiar faces such as AFH Alumni Derek Jesus, Fabiola Lara, Painting Studio Mentor Luis Urena and AFH Executive Director Anna Yu. Go team! ?
