Our mission is to lead the movement and nurture the belief that together we can improve the lives of Marylanders by ending hunger. The Maryland Food Bank is a nonprofit hunger-relief organization at the forefront of the movement to end hunger throughout Maryland. For more than 40 years, we have partnered with communities across the state to distribute food to individuals and families in need. Through carefully crafted programs, the food bank aims to meet the immediate needs of Marylanders while simultaneously working to find long-term ways to reduce hunger statewide. We operate from three facilities in Baltimore, Salisbury, and Hagerstown. Through our extensive network of soup kitchens, pantries, and schools, our branches distribute food throughout 21 counties and Baltimore City, including Somerset, Wicomico, and Washington counties—some of the most food-insecure regions in Maryland.

Yesterday we cut the ribbon on the Pratt Free Market at the Southeast Anchor Library! The Pratt Free Market (PFM) aims to create a safe space for the community through food. Our goal is to help address the issue of food insecurity in Baltimore City and alleviate hunger in the local community. PFM will be a judgment-free, accessible, modern, and bright, FREE grocery store located at the Southeast Anchor Library. PFM will be stocked with produce, dry goods, paper goods, and more by generous local partners. The market will serve as a hub for food and nutrition based community programming. The Pratt Free Market will receive food from accredited partners including the Maryland Food Bank, Plantation Park Heights, Leftover Love, Benbow Concession Services, and Moon Valley Farms. We will celebrate the grand opening of the Pratt Free Market with a family celebration at the Southeast Anchor Library. Join us this Saturday from 10am to 2 PM! Special thanks and appreciation to all of our partners.
