During school, we strived for the A+, and mistakes weren't welcomed. We're past this phase now. In real life, we welcome mistakes as the steps we take to improve ourselves and care. You won't learn much if fear is the drive and you're playing it safe. I'm NOT asking for uneducated steps but rather to improve our knowledge and coding practices to ensure we're NOT leaving money on the table due to lack of knowledge. The goal of its developers is NOT to teach you to be better than them, but rather how to be safe and avoid audits. In the world of billing and coding, knowledge is power. The stronger your foundation, the better your coding will be. The codes are updated every year. If I were in your shoes, I would attend the annual update by your coder or be proactive and reach out to them. In 2024, G2211 for medical specialties has been great, and this year, the added G0537 and G0538 for dyslipidemia and new codes for thyroid radiofrequency ablation (RFA) if you do them, 60660 and 60661 will change the landscape for this procedure. I mentioned the ones relevant to endocrinology, and you need to check those that are relevant to you. Knowledge is power, so make the most out of it! ????
