This past Saturday, March 22nd, we were thrilled to support National Grange's Vaccination Effort in partnership with USA Boxing, Inc. at #ExpoFamilia in El Paso, Texas, for an incredible day dedicated to health and wellness. Our team members, Olivia and Sabrina Lopez, attended the event, and here’s what they had to say: “I was so inspired by the incredible community turnout - families really showed up for their health and for each other. There was truly something for everyone: from free vaccinations and all-day blood pressure screenings (those lines never stopped!) to hand-washing demos that had the kids totally engaged. And it wasn’t just about health - it was about joy too! There was music, dancing, and yes… boxing! El Paso reminded me what community looks like when people come together with heart.” - said Olivia. “I was truly impressed! I have seen many vaccination clinics over the past years, but this one last Saturday was special. Dozens of families were left informed and empowered about their health. Countless individuals received free screenings, vaccinations, and valuable health information. There was a strong sense of a united community! Felicidades to the Expo Familia team!” – shared Sabrina We’re so proud to support this collaboration and the difference it makes in Southern Texas. Gracias to all the partners that made this possible: National Grange, USAging, USA Boxing, Rodriguez Fight Team, Nayeli Rodriguez, Diana DeLara Zamudio, Erika Hernandez, and to all the major sponsors, musicians, dancers, and talent from the Entravision family in El Paso Let’s continue working together to keep our families healthy, informed, and thriving! The Grange Vaccination Effort is funded by the Administration for Community Living through a grant to USAging. #CommunityHealth #VaccinationEffort #PublicHealth #ElPaso #GrangeVaccination #Flu #COVID19 #Measles #HPV #HealthEquity

Recent measles outbreaks across the U.S. are a stark reminder that this highly contagious disease is still a threat. Measles spreads through the air when an infected person talks, coughs, or sneezes, and anyone who is not immune is at risk. Some groups face a higher likelihood of severe complications, including: ?? Children under 5 ?? Adults over 20 ?? Pregnant women ?? People with weakened immune systems (e.g., leukemia, HIV) Staying informed is key to prevention. Salud America provides trusted resources in both English and Spanish to help individuals, families, and healthcare providers understand the risks and prevent the spread. ?? Tuberculosis (TB) is often seen as a disease of the past—but it isn’t. Every year, 10 million people fall ill with TB, and it remains one of the world’s deadliest infectious diseases. The reality is stark: TB is preventable, treatable, and curable, yet too many communities—especially those that are already underserved—continue to bear the burden of this disease. On World Tuberculosis Day, we’re reminded that progress in TB elimination isn’t just about science and medicine. It’s about advocacy. It’s about ensuring that policies support early detection, that resources reach the communities most in need, and that innovation is met with access, not barriers. How can we elevate the conversation and drive meaningful change in TB prevention and care? #WorldTuberculosisDay #EndTB #TBPrevention #PublicHealth #GlobalHealth #HealthEquity #TBAdvocacy #FightTB?

We are fortunate to have Nona Bear, a seasoned expert in advocacy and alliance development, leading the way at McUlsky Health Force. With over three decades of experience, Nona has empowered the voices of patient groups, seniors, veterans, and rural communities, and has been instrumental in shaping healthcare policy. Her work in aging, including co-founding the Mature Market Institute and co-authoring one of the first books on marketing to older adults, has helped bring attention to underrepresented groups in healthcare. As Nona often says, “You need help. And how you choose your help really determines whether or not you’re going to be successful.” Successful advocacy is all about building the right partnerships—those who bring valuable expertise, perspectives, and experiences to the table. Networking in healthcare isn’t transactional—it’s about developing long-term relationships based on trust and mutual understanding. As Nona reminds us, “From the time we meet a group we keep in touch with them forever, our relationships don't end when our project ends.” These lasting connections are critical, especially when navigating the shifting landscape of government policies and funding. But it’s not just about who you know; it’s also about what you learn from your partners. “A side benefit of choosing good partners is that you learn a whole bunch of stuff that you never knew you were going to know,” says Nona. Through collaboration with key stakeholders, we ensure that our messaging is aligned with the real-world challenges and needs of the communities we serve. As we advocate for change, it’s crucial to listen first. “You need to listen before you tell. And certainly, listen before you ask.” By understanding the concerns of those we work with, we can better align our efforts and drive the policy changes that matter most. Follow McUlsky Health Force for more expert advice and insights from our team on healthcare advocacy, policy, and building meaningful relationships. #HealthcareAdvocacy #PolicyChange #Networking #Collaboration #McUlskyHealthForce #HealthcarePolicy #Nonprofits #Advocacy #RelationshipBuilding #ExpertAdvice
