Not only did we celebrate the Anaheim Fire Station No. 12 Groundbreaking on March 4th, but we also got to watch as Anaheim Mayor Ashleigh Aitken arrived at the site on a historic apparatus (from the early 1900s!), setting the tone for the significance of this project. This new station will serve the fast-growing area of the Platinum Triangle, with ten bunks, two double-deep apparatus bays with support spaces, a fitness room, kitchen, dining room, and an integrated training platform. Plus, the historic apparatus isn’t going anywhere! It will be housed in a special museum space in the reserve building for public viewing, highlighting Anaheim Fire & Rescue’s rich history and indelible presence in the community. On February 19th, we celebrated with the County of San Diego as they officially broke ground on the new Casa de Oro Library! COAR has worked collaboratively with EC Constructors and the County to bring this new 12,000 square foot facility to the Casa de Oro community. The library is designed to meet the evolving needs of the community, as they had outgrown the size of the previous library with over 63,250 items checked out in 2022! When complete, the new library will feature a community room, study rooms, specialized teen and children’s areas and an outdoor Poet’s Patio. With an emphasis on energy efficiency, the Casa de Oro library will be San Diego County’s 71st LEED Certified building, and 14th Zero Net Energy facility. We couldn’t be more excited to watch the next “chapter” of this building come to life as it heads into construction and beyond! One of the activities our team enjoys most at our holiday parties is the raffle led by Christopher Jackson. This year Chris spiced it up a bit and threw in some extra fun prizes that would definitely take the right people to really enjoy...and enjoy they did! Daniel Hausbeck, P.E. won an experience of a lifetime - a skydive package at Skydive San Diego with a pretty sweet view of Otay Lakes. This was Daniel’s first time jumping out of a plane and likely won't be his last! He had an absolute blast and was super excited throughout the whole process. Go Daniel!!! Last week, our team hit the track at K1 Speed for an adrenaline-pumping team-building event! It was a great way to bond, boost camaraderie, and put our need for speed to the test. ?????
