?Faculty Spotlight ? Introducing Eva Fast! She is the newest addition to the McMillon Innovation Studio and will be leading our Product Teams program. In addition she is the Director of the Master of Science in Product Innovation Program and a SEVI Teaching Assistant Professor in the SEVI department at the Walton College. Eva is thrilled to be working with the studio’s creative and driven students this semester and help bring their ideas across many industries - medical, logistics, food, art, etc. She loves how students are solving real human problems and making an impact on Northwest Arkansas! Eva comes to us with human-centered design expertise as a consultant as well as 13 years of experience in higher education. Most recently from John Brown University where she led the undergraduate entrepreneurship and innovation program and the graduate concentration in design thinking and innovation. Eva and her student teams have received top awards at the Reynolds Governor’s Cup Business Plan Competition, bringing home over $400,000 in prizes. She likes to help students develop their gifts and surprise themselves in the process of hands-on learning experiences.

"The goal of the program is to get mothers to come back for appointments and ultimately educate them on why postpartum care is important." ???????? A student team's project to improving the maternal mortality rates in #Arkansas?was featured last weekend in the Northwest Arkansas Democrat-Gazette. Working inside our McMillon Innovation Studio, the team partnered with Community Clinic NWA to develop a comprehensive postpartum program that incentivizes participation through a progressive rewards system. ??? The paper noted that Arkansas has the fourth-highest maternal mortality rate in the nation, averaging 38 deaths per 100,000 births. The program is set to begin the first week of March, according to Valeria Mazariegos, the project leader. Her team included Marielis Cubero-Perez, Sierra Greiner, and Ellis Freel. ???? Launched in 2016, the Studio is OEI's innovation hub and is open to students across the #UARK campus.
