Korea-Italy Fashion Tech Alliance Forum Back in September, we took part in the KIFT Alliance’s event marking 140 years of diplomatic relations between Korea and Italy. Powered by the SUNGJOO Foundation, the philanthropic arm of MCM, the event brought together a wide array of top fashion and tech experts and academic leaders from the two nations to share their insight on the future of fashion tech?AI, the metaverse, and sustainable growth. Our Chief Visionary Office Mrs. Sung-Joo Kim spoke at the event both in person and via her AI Avatar, demonstrating our company-wide commitment to embracing the possibilities new technologies offer.

The MIRUM? Capsule Collection Plastics, out. Nature, in. Re-thinking the materials we work with is a major part of MCM’s commitment to meeting its aggressive sustainability goals. Traditional leather alternatives are heavily reliant on fossil-fuel derived synthetics, which do not biodegrade and contribute to the global plastic issue. That’s why we are proud to partner with NFW to introduce MIRUM? into the design and manufacture of our products. This naturally circular, scalable, 100% plastic and water-free alternative leather is made from natural ingredients including rubber, agricultural waste fibers, and plant-based oils, pigments, and minerals. As well as being beautiful and durable, MIRUM? has a dramatically lower carbon footprint than conventional leather and synthetic alternatives. The MIRUM? Capsule Collection is the result of a two-year creative design process. It reimagines two sizes of our Himmel Shopper in the most sustainable leather alternative we’ve ever used, marking a major step forward in eco-conscious luxury and our journey towards Net Zero.
