Alyssa Prebich, a dedicated Field Engineer at McLean Contracting Company started her journey into construction unexpectedly, ignited by her passion for problem-solving, hands-on work, and a desire to positively impact marine construction. Originally interested in the medical field, Alyssa switched to Civil Engineering Technologies at Pennsylvania College of Technology. Her summer internships at McLean solidified her love for a field filled with intricate challenges and a deep connection to water, working with her hands, embracing the outdoors, and making a difference in ways she never expected In her role, Alyssa connects the field with the office, supporting Superintendents and Project Managers, managing field measurements and quality control, and creating Work Plans for crews. Her adaptability is crucial as each day brings new challenges. From intern to Field Engineer in six years, Alyssa’s growth is remarkable, and her enthusiasm is infectious. Tracy started with McLean in 1996 and has been here for over 28 years. The people, our Employee Stock Ownership Plan, and the exciting work keeps her here. She started as a Field Office Clerk through a temporary agency while in a Master's degree program and was later hired full-time in 1996. Over the years, Tracy progressed from Field Office Manager to Chief Field Office Manager, overseeing other managers, to HR Manager in 2008, and then to Talent Development Manager in June 2022, a role she loves that focuses on programs like Steel-Toe Boot Camp and Rising STAR Field Engineer Onboarding, Welcome Week, and Career Ladders. Growing up in Central PA, she learned from her Dad, who owned an antique engine machine shop and taught her to love tools and equipment. Working at McLean, she feels that same passion on our job sites, surrounded by construction workers. Earlier this month, we helped our customer with inbound cargo that had arrived from Canada by truck to Dundalk Marine Terminal (DMT) destined for Seagirt Marine Terminal (SMT). ?It was too heavy for the two bridges that cross Colgate Creek. ?In this case, we were tasked with moving the cargo from DMT to SMT utilizing the McLean-built Stiff Leg Derrick, Jamestown. Essentially, within the rigging we carried the lift and thereby provided a “bridge” between the two terminals. Every day presents opportunities for us to solve cargo logistics challenges.
