We're beyond grateful to work alongside a vibrant and diverse group of entrepreneurs from across our incredible state, each bringing unique energy to their communities. We’re proud to announce that McKinley Alaska Growth Capital has received a $40 million allocation of federal New Markets Tax Credits (NMTC) from the U.S. Department of the Treasury’s CDFI Fund. This new allocation will enable us to invest in businesses and projects across Alaska, particularly in high-poverty regions and Alaska Native Village Statistical Areas. Our focus is on addressing critical infrastructure needs and creating opportunities for growth in rural and underserved communities. Breaking News Dr. Mike Sfraga, an accomplished geographer and University of Alaska Fairbanks alumnus, has been confirmed as the United States’ first-ever Ambassador-at-Large for Arctic Affairs. Dr. Sfraga’s appointment, championed by Senator Lisa Murkowski, marks a historic step toward strengthening U.S. leadership and security in the Arctic. Dr. Sfraga has held key leadership roles at UA, including Vice Chancellor at UAF and Associate Vice President. He is the founding director of the Polar Institute at the Wilson Center and previously served as chair of the U.S. Arctic Research Commission. His decades of experience and expertise in Arctic policy, climate change, and international relations continue to shape critical discussions on the region’s future. Congratulations, Dr. Sfraga!

Last week the American Lung Association in Alaska held our annual Breathe Easy Breakfast. It was an inspirational morning hearing from several community members who have been effected by lung health issues and honoring 3 amazing community partners who have helped in supporting the American Lung Associations mission to better the lives of Alaskans.
