Rachael Pisano, MBA, CHIA, Learning & Development Manager and Christina Yuschalk, Senior Corporate Recruiter, were honored to be invited as a presenters for the 2024 Problem Solving Summit in cooperation with the USF School of Hospitality & Tourism Management and Hillsborough County Public Schools. Supported by Laur-Ann Daley, Engineering & Procurement Coordinator, they presented real-world challenges to 100 students from HCPS, allowing them to engage, use critical thinking skills, and find solutions.

McKibbon Equities & project partners recently celebrated the topping out of Hilton Garden Inn Cape Canaveral which is scheduled to open in fall of 2025. The topping out signifies the completion of the building’s structural framework bringing the property one step closer to officially opening its doors. The project’s general contractor, Certified General Contractors, Inc., hosted a celebratory luncheon, allowing partners, construction employees and subcontractors to participate in this major construction milestone. Upon completion, the hotel will feature 156 spacious guest rooms and suites across six floors, 800 square feet of meeting space, and an independently branded tiki-inspired restaurant and bar! This week, we celebrate the 78th?anniversary of McKibbon Hospitality’s first venture into the hospitality world with its “fine dining” restaurant and motel, Avion Court, in Gainesville, Georgia. Opened in 1946 by 2nd-generation entrepreneur Jack McKibbon, Jr., Avion Court consisted of the restaurant and three houses that had been converted into guest rooms with private baths that were rented for $3.50 per night. In 1953, Jack Jr. tore down the houses and constructed a 26-unit brick motel with air conditioning, renaming it the Avion Motel.?Gainesville’s first motel,?Avion Motel?welcomed guests for many years and laid the foundation for the hospitality company you see today.

Congratulations to Robert Newton, MBA, Dual General Manager of Hampton Inn & Home2 Suites Tampa Downtown Channel District, for his inclusion in HOTEL MANAGEMENT Magazine's 2024 General Managers to Watch list. A long-time, well-respected McKibbon leader, Robert was recognized for his dedication to supporting and inspiring his team, best serving his guests and community, and work mentoring & inspiring the next generation of hospitality professionals.

The Hilton Garden Inn & Homewood Suites Tampa Westshore had the opportunity to attend the Inaugural Hillsborough Rose Awards presented by the Florida Restaurant & Lodging Association (FRLA) that took place on October 3rd, 2024. The awards celebrate and honor nominated hotel staff members who have gone above & beyond in their roles.
