At the intersection of technological innovation and global governance, our responsibility never ends at creation - we have to secure what we build for public benefit and trust. Today at The Aspen Institute Cybersecurity Summit, alongside leaders and friends including FBI Director Christopher Wray, Nicholas Thompson, Craig Newmark, Jorge Guajardo and many more, we're tackling the urgent challenges that advancements like quantum computing pose to global cybersecurity. With a panel of technology and policy experts,?I’ll?lead a discussion on some tough questions: - Are our current cybersecurity models obsolete against rapidly evolving threats? Is it time to rethink our entire approach rather than just applying quantum-resistant patches? - Could breakthroughs in quantum computing and AI unintentionally create new vulnerabilities or widen existing inequalities? How might these technologies disrupt industries in unforeseen ways, impacting our critical infrastructure? - Who gets to define ethics in a world transformed by powerful technologies that affect national security? As innovation accelerates, how do we ensure civil society has a voice in shaping ethical standards? - What role will international standards play in our tech-driven future? AI-powered tools offer incredible potential to enhance efficiency and creativity, from sparking ideas to delivering final results. However, the most advanced AI still requires critical evaluation – and fact-checking information generated by these tools is key to using them effectively. Common Sense Media is taking a proactive approach to responsible AI by providing clear and insightful "nutrition labels" for popular platforms like Google's Gemini and Anthropic's Claude.
