Veterinary Professionals: With the potential of 11 new colleges of veterinary medicine planned to open in the US in the next few years... do you worry about oversaturation of veterinarians in the market? ... Or do you think the veterinary shortage is so severe that this is needed? I don't have the answer, but am curious about your thoughts.

5 things that every new veterinarian needs: 1. Mentorship with a doctor who WANTS to help you grow. Ideally this mentor should be compensated for this role and accountability check-ins must be non-negotiable. 2. A practice with a healthy and safe culture. The Core values of this practice should line up with your personal values. 3. A growth mindset. Setting SMART goals for yourself with regular check-ins will change the trajectory of your life. 4. A certified financial planner. Vets typically graduate with significant debt and everyone’s situation is unique. Making the right decisions early in your career will set you up for financial freedom in the future. You’re an expert in vetmed, not finance. Find an expert that you trust. 5. Something that you are passionate about outside of your job. You are more than just a veterinarian. I’d love to hear what else you think needs to be on this list?
