On Friday, team members from our Asheville office volunteered with a local group called Riverlink and assisted with Hurricane Helene relief efforts. They worked to clean up litter, remove invasive plants, and plant some trees along the French broad river. The team wanted to spend time helping out in nature to celebrate the upcoming Earth Day. #shapingcommunitiestogether #helenerelief

Last night our team had the chance to attend the Western Piedmont Council of Governments 2025 Annual Meeting. This is always a great event to network and celebrate the collaborate efforts and successes of local governments in the region. A little rain didn’t stop the welcome tailgate for the ASCE Student Symposium at Clemson last night. With a quick change in plans, the tailgate moved into Memorial Stadium to kick off the weekend festivities. It was great to meet so many civil engineering students from across the Carolinas. We wish you all luck as you showcase your skills and compete in the various challenges this weekend. 

Spring 2025 Funding Deadline is Almost Here – Applications are due April 30th! If you’re open to accepting a loan, be sure to mark “yes.” When listing your minimum amount for grants/principal forgiveness, be strategic. If your minimum is too high and those funds aren’t available, your project could be skipped. When possible, list your minimum as "0" to keep your project in the running. Mirror Lake is a valued community treasure in Highlands, North Carolina. Sediment accumulation has caused significant reduction in the Lake’s depth, disrupting the water quality and ecosystem. McGill’s water resources, environmental, and survey teams are honored to work with the Town of Highlands to restore Mirror Lake through a phased dredging project. On April 8th, Michael Hanson, Vice-President at McGill, provided an update to the Town Board of Commissioners and Mirror Lake stakeholders with recommendations to move forward.
