Excited to be back at my alma mater, Gettysburg College, for their Fall Job and Internship Expo today. Plenty of nostalgia on the rural back roads leading up to campus and driving by my old fraternity house and soccer stadium. This place introduced me to some amazing people, many of whom I keep in touch with today. It wasn’t until my time in the United States Marine Corps did I appreciate the hallowed grounds on which I got to spend 4 years of my life. The casualties in the the Battle of Gettysburg were so great (on both sides) that the largest campus buildings were turned into makeshift hospitals where medical staff worked to save the lives of all soldiers (both north and south). Grateful to be be back and continue the mission of #InspiringPeopleAndPlaces in a place (and chapter of my life) I hold dear.

Yesterday I spent an incredible day volunteering with Fish for Life! ??? It was such a privilege to volunteer as part of this amazing organization that provides unforgettable fishing experiences for individuals with special needs. A huge thank you to founder Jim Holden for creating this incredible non-profit and Jesse Gemberling-Johnson for his unwavering dedication to the East Coast region in his role as Executive Director. We had a blast with our new friends, including the visiting board members from California, and were so inspired by the enthusiasm and joy of all the participants and their families. And yes, the rumors are true! ???? We survived a pirate attack! Thankfully, our brave crew and everyone on board worked together to ensure our safety. It was a truly unforgettable adventure. ???? “Birds of a feather flock together.” Jed and I were plebe year company mates. We navigated the trials and tribulations of balancing academics and athletics together at West Point. A little over 10 years ago we realized we were both navigating post military careers trying to build and find a path to “success” for ourselves in the built environment. I’m proud of what Jed Richard has built and is building. I’m grateful to have a peer to inspire me, give me feedback, share lessons learned with. Our ethos are the same ones we learned in the Army - doesn’t matter what the mission in front of us is, it’s about building teams and empowering leaders.
