????And sometimes you get to see the seeds you helped plant, grow! Incredibly proud to spend the morning watching my friends and former colleagues at TNTP host another federal briefing on the importance of educator diversity, particularly for improving in-school experiences and overall outcomes for young people. Congratulations to Dr. Stefany Tomlinson, Ed.D and Nithya Joseph for kicking off and moderating an excellent panel! It’s always great to hear from Amanda Fernandez, one of the best visionaries in our field for what’s possible and Cory M. Murphy, Ph.D - one of the incredible leaders in the MCEL (Men of Color in Educational Leadership) network. Check out the Campaign’s new report in the comments. Strong superintendents are an essential component of the success and sustainability of any effort to strengthen teacher and leader pipelines. I’m grateful that this continues to be a key lever for us at Chiefs for Change in how we intend to make economic and social mobility a reality for all young people across our network.

“Much has been written about?why?we need to break down barriers in order to diversify the educator workforce. Much less covered is the formidable task of?how?to launch and sustain transformative solutions.” We’re grateful to have Superintendent Theresa Plascencia as an advisory committee member of #MCEL and to hear how the Resilient Representative Leadership framework – our free, online toolkit designed to help support and sustain leaders of color in education – has supported her journey as an educator of color in her recent The Hechinger Report op-ed.??Harrison Peters Steve Gering Waukegan Public Schools Donald E.
