McDonald’s Indonesia is making impactful strides against our global ambitions to operate more sustainably, guided by the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. In partnership with development licensee partner PT Rekso Nasional Food, the Indonesia market has achieved meaningful #progress, including: ?? Reducing the use of single-use plastic #packaging and made the transition to Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) certified paper packaging, curtailing the use of plastic straws and replacing them with sealer lids for takeaway, drive-thru and delivery drinks. ?? Converting used cooking oil into a #renewableenergy source (biodiesel) that has been certified by the government, helping to prevent environmental pollution. ?? Using LED lighting in all (!) McDonald’s Indonesia restaurants to conserve #energy. ?? Implementing efficiency measures on raw material delivery routes from suppliers to restaurants to help reduce #carbonemissions. In June 2024, one of McDonald’s Indonesia newest restaurants located on Jalan Ampera, South Jakarta, successfully obtained Green Building certification from the Indonesian government, marking the first time this recognition has been awarded in the food and beverage industry. Various, more sustainable elements have been incorporated, and are expected to help reduce energy consumption by at least 25% energy use.

School is in session at McDonald's #Philippines! ?? The Night Classroom is an initiative known for turning party areas at participating McDonald’s into study halls at night, offering students and teachers a place to grab their favorite snack and hit the books. Some perks include free Wi-Fi, snacks, and a personal desk divider. But our favorite part is the new study buddies that were made! Some students who attended wrote personalized letters to the restaurant, letting them know they've made a lasting impact. ??

Our restaurants around the world are finding new and unique ways to be more #sustainable, including a new Arcos Dorados restaurant in Guápiles, Costa Rica. This helps reduce its carbon footprint and enhances energy efficiency and supports #renewableenergy sources ?? Other initiatives in motion include rainwater recovery for use in irrigation, faucets with flow reduction, LED lights and automatic switching on of signs and exterior lighting to prevent unnecessary energy use Serving up sustainability with a side of #innovation ??

They've provided millions of families with physical and emotional support, ensuring access to care throughout their child’s healthcare journey. So, let's take a trip down memory lane. ?? It all started when Fred and Fran Hill were faced with a medical crisis as their daughter Kim battled Leukemia. This personal journey inspired them to help families like theirs stay together while their children receive medical treatment. With the help of McDonald's Franchisees and Philadelphia's professional football team, they launched a fundraiser and made history. The first Ronald McDonald House opened in Philadelphia on October 15, 1974. McDonald's ongoing commitment to RMHC is a central pillar of our commitment to positively impacting the communities where we operate. It’s true what they say: good things can come in small (and more sustainable) packages ?? In the U.S., both the Mini and Regular #McFlurry are now served in a more sustainable four-flap cup, phasing out plastic McFlurry cup lids. This will help reduce waste and advance our goal of sourcing 100% of primary guest #packaging from renewable, #recycled or certified materials by the end of 2025 ?? The four-flap cups are currently available in several other international markets like Canada and Indonesia – join us in welcoming them (and their Mini counterpart) to the U.S.! ??
