This week, in partnership with The Hampshire Companies, we packed over 250 grocery bags, along with 250 bags of apples and 250 bags of potatoes, providing a week’s worth of healthy, filling meals to nearly 1,000 active-duty military members, veterans, and their families facing food insecurity. This weekend, our partners Reveille Grounds and Blue Star Families of Baltimore and Chesapeake Region?will distribute the bags at Nourish the Service, a special community event. Together, we supported a vulnerable population that has given so much, honoring their service with our own. Thank you, team, for your incredible commitment. Our Managing Director of Community Development, Amy Bonitz, recently joined a Bisnow panel discussion to share insights on the evolving landscape of student housing development. As student expectations shift, so does the demand for pedestrian-friendly, campus-adjacent housing and the creative use of spaces, such as converting office buildings into modern student accommodations. Ensuring that amenities remain top-tier yet affordable is essential for long-term value. Amy highlighted how MCB Real Estate is partnering with universities facing housing shortages that could limit future growth. Our collaborative approach supports alignment between student needs and local community vitality, delivering sustainable growth that benefits both campuses and their surrounding neighborhoods.

Academia hosts the world’s most sustainable science buildings, pioneering carbon neutrality and innovation while solving big questions for humanity.?However, these facilities are expensive to build and often sequestered from the public.?In response, Gensler, Thornton Tomasetti and Van Zelm developed Fast.Forward, a network of rapidly deployable modules that produce net-positive energy and act as decentralized, flexible, accessible field labs for place-based research and STEM education.?? ? Join me, Michael Kocher, AIA NCARB, and Meghan Webster at the AURP International Conference in Bentonville, AR Nov. 11-14, 2024 where we delve into all the new and exciting ways that universities can capitalize on the experience of groups like Gensler, Thornton Tomasetti and Van Zelm to improve the connectedness and relevance of their STEM education. Our vision for the future of Harborplace was developed through an inclusive and intensive public engagement process. That vision is one that looks forward – to an Inner Harbor for future generations of Baltimoreans, to an Inner Harbor with public parkland, mixed income housing and local business opportunities. The success of Question F demonstrates that vision is one that the people of Baltimore support. Now the real work begins to transform Harborplace, the Inner Harbor and the City of Baltimore for the benefit of our City and State – and we will need everyone to help make this a reality.

At MCB Real Estate we love fall festivals, and couldn’t have asked for better weather and vibes this month at the Reservoir Hill Harvest Festival and Bolton Hill’s Festival on the Hill. It was an absolute pleasure to meet with community members and discuss the exciting developments at Reservoir Square. We gave out hundreds of reusable grocery bags to future shoppers, and more than a few pre-Halloween treats. A big thank you to the Reservoir Hill Improvement Council and Bolton Hill Community Association for providing this opportunity to connect with the community. We’re already looking forward to next year!
