We announced today that the U.S Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has granted Breakthrough Device Designation for our NIO??Lung Cancer Reveal image analysis module. “We are excited by the FDA’s decision to grant breakthrough device designation for NIO? Lung Cancer Reveal,“ said Steve Pastore, MD, VP of Clinical Affairs for Invenio Imaging. “This underscores the need to expand access to rapid on-site evaluation of bronchoscopic lung forceps biopsies using AI.” Granting of a Breakthrough Device Designation does not guarantee that the application will ultimately be approved.

?? What does it take to advance more research to clinical impact??? ?? Hint: Calling all bio / med founders & entrepreneurs! Spread the word! ?? ?? Without a company in between, the greatest discoveries in research labs won’t become new treatments, medical technologies and products that can improve lives. ?? U-M broke records this year with $2B+ in research (#1 public research university), 600+ inventions fueling 28 new startups ?What’s the bottleneck to leveling up even more? ?? Matching emerging projects with the best founders / entrepreneurs / business leaders who can launch, build teams and attract resources to move the startups forward. ?? My Innovation Partnerships colleagues have just launched a program to directly address this bottleneck: Accelerate Blue Foundry (https://lnkd.in/ggwwda6H) ? They are seeking founding startup CEOs to launch the highest potential projects emerging from U-M. The academic inventors are rarely the right person to launch these startups. ?? When you sign on, the U-M ecosystem will help create momentum: an incubator to develop and launch, entrepreneurial advisors, ventures team, investment funds, and the world’s strongest network of alumni with industry talent and investors. ? ?? As a U-M spin-off, several funds are available for investment including Accelerate Blue (ABF), Michigan Biomedical Venture Fund (MBVF), MUICF, MINTS (yes we love our acronyms), which collectively manage $100M+, focused on startups emerging from the U-M ecosystem. The University and the State are doubling down on startups as a priority. Questions: ?? Do I need to be based in MI? No! We are looking for the most capable entrepreneurs anywhere to lead these projects (most MBVF startups are based in Michigan, but we have several in California, Boston, Chicago, etc) ?? Do I need to be an alum? No! But we may adopt you as a Wolverine … and you might even find yourself saying “Go Blue!” See info linked below - and check in with my UM colleagues for more details (Dave Repp, Sarah Jameson-Valencia, Michael Psarouthakis, Kelly Sexton, etc.) “By connecting top entrepreneurial talent with U-M technologies, the program will accelerate the path to startup launch and foster new ventures that have the opportunity to solve the world’s great challenges.” A few example projects: ?? New Oral Immunotherapy Platform for the treatment of Food Allergies and Other Autoimmune Diseases ?? Generative AI Summarization for Dynamic Tracking of Clinical Symptoms ?? Gastrointestinal (GI) Locally-Activating JAK Inhibitor for Treatment of Ulcerative Colitis ?? Generation of Human Sertoli Cells to Support In Vivo and In Vitro Gametogenesis
