Macon-Bibb Memory Lane ? In 2017, Amazon announced a game-changing investment of over $90 million in Macon with the launch of a brand-new fulfillment center. This milestone brought more than 500 full-time jobs to our community and laid the foundation for a strong, ongoing partnership. We’re proud to continue building a brighter future with Amazon here in Macon-Bibb!

On November 21st, the MBCIA was honored to attend Irving Tissue's 5-Year Celebration. In the past five years, Irving has been a crucial industry in Macon-Bibb County, creating hundreds of jobs and making our region a great place to work and play. Chairman Robby Fountain shared, “Working with Irving over the past five years has been an incredible journey. From the moment they arrived in Macon, they became a valued part of our community, and it’s been amazing to see how they’ve grown and thrived here. This expansion is a testament to their hard work and dedication, as well as the strong connection they’ve built with Macon.” At the event, Irving announced plans to expand its Macon facilities, reaffirming its commitment to Macon. Meet Lester Miller, the Macon-Bibb County Mayor! We're grateful that we get to work alongside Mayor Miller in a lot of projects and day-to-day operations. ?What motivated you to become a board member of MBCIA, and what do you hope to achieve during your tenure? Just as Georgia is the #1 state to do business in the country, I want Macon-Bibb to be the #1 county and city in which to do business. I want to continue attracting more industries to join Team Macon-Bibb, thus creating more high-paying jobs for our friends and families. ?How do you envision MBCIA's role in shaping the future of Macon's economic landscape and community development? The partnership with our College & Career Academy is closer than ever before, but I want us to continue making the connections between education and our industries. If we can tailor our educational opportunities to the needs of both our students and the industries, we can create a stronger, more stable community. ?Please share a significant achievement or project of MBCIA that you are particularly proud of being a part of. Our work is so much larger than one project or one announcement because our community deserves sustained, drastic improvement. I’m so proud of the Industrial Authority for working together and with our entire economic development team to never let up on marketing our community. With their collaborative work, we have seen more than $1 billion in private investment in just a few years, and that’s truly something we can all be proud of. ?Share an inspiring story or experience that demonstrates the positive influence of MBCIA on a business or individual in Macon. Several years ago, one of our industry partners – Middle Georgia Freightliner - suffered a loss when their facility caught on fire. Working with the Industrial Authority, they were able to build a larger facility in a much better location, allowing them to expand their operations. This just shows that once you’re part of Team Macon-Bibb, we want to make sure you’re taken care of and are able to succeed. ?If you could use one emoji to describe your experience as a board member of MBCIA, which one would it be and why? ?? MBCIA is celebrating half a century of partnership with YKK U.S.A.! 2024 marks 50 years of YKK doing business in Macon, which makes them a longstanding industry partner of ours. On November 8, the YKK held their 50th anniversary celebration where Macon leaders and stakeholders joined to celebrate the milestone.
