The recall is prompted by the discovery that patients using these machines may be exposed to non-dioxin-like (NDL) polychlorinated biphenyl acids (PCBAs) originating from peroxide-cured silicone tubing within the machines' hydraulics and dialysate lines. While the manufacturer suggests that the levels of NDL PCBAs decrease during the initial month of routine clinical use, the situation remains concerning. This recall encompasses affected machines produced between August 21, 2008, and June 6, 2022, equipped with chlorinated peroxide-cured silicone tubing, which may not have been used for more than 36 days (or 486 total hours).
