Happy Halloween from the Maze team! This year, our team’s creativity was on full display as we came together in costume to celebrate the season. It was a great reminder of the team spirit and camaraderie that drive us every day.?

We're pleased to announce positive results from the Phase 1 clinical trial of MZE829 in healthy volunteers. MZE829 is an oral, small molecule inhibitor of APOL1 that we are advancing as a potential treatment for people living with APOL1 #kidneydisease (AKD), a subset of chronic kidney disease (CKD) estimated to affect over one million patients in the United States alone. We are presenting data from our Phase 1 trial of MZE829 for the treatment of APOL1-mediated #kidneydisease at this year’s American Society of Nephrology’s (ASN) #KidneyWk.?The Phase 1 data from this study supports this program’s advancement into our planned Phase 2 trial in patients expected to begin in the coming months. In addition, we will present new preclinical data supporting the potential of our second lead program, MZE782, a potentially first-in-class, oral, #smallmolecule targeting the solute transporter, SLC6A19, for the treatment of #chronickidneydisease during ASN’s Kidney Week and at American Society of Human Genetics's #ASHG24. We also welcomed Sammantha, co-founder of Inessence Dance Company, for an exciting salsa dance lesson. Our team enjoyed learning the basics of this dance, appreciating its rich cultural significance, and celebrating the blend of U.S., Latin, and Hispanic traditions.?

Karol Estrada, MSc, PhD and the entire Maze team welcomed back one of our scientific founders, Mark Daly, as part of our internal educational R&D seminar series. As a renowned geneticist and an influential figure in the field of human genetics, Mark discussed the history of #humangenetics and how it can further support our therapeutic development mission. This was especially inspiring for us as a team that is harnessing the power of genetics to transform the lives of patients. Thanks to Mark for his time and teachings.?
