All too often I see great founders pursuing markets that are too small. When evaluating if a new b2b startup idea is "big enough" (e.g., IPO-able), try creating a list of potential customers. If the list is in the 1000s, you need to have $1M customers. If the list is in the 10,000s, you need to have $100K+ customers. If the list is in 100,000s, you need to have $10K+ customers. If the list is in the 1Ms, you need to have $1K+ customers. Note, there are exceptions to every rule but directionally, feel this is right.
