Get ready to feel moved reading my interview with GW Hillel Executive Director Adena Kirstein "There is some magic that happens when you are in this immersive experience, and you are learning deeply, and you are connecting the dots textually about holidays and the parsha of the week and our modern world and so much more. How do we work collectively to make sure more students and families feel that day school is a financially feasible choice that is worth making? As a parent and as a Hillel director, I believe it is a choice to provide for your students a certain level of Jewish self-confidence that will serve them in the wider world for many, many years to come" #Prizmah #HaYidion

Uniting Aish's Global Educators: Our Annual Professional Development Conference in Jerusalem Last week, Aish educators from over 100 cities worldwide gathered in Jerusalem for our annual Professional Development Conference—a crucial opportunity to learn, strategize, and recharge for the year ahead. At the heart of this powerful gathering was our Rosh Yeshiva, Rabbi Yitzchak Berkovits, who spoke about the role of outreach professionals and offered profound inspiration. His Q&A sessions and private meetings in his majestic office were highlights that participants will carry with them throughout the year. "Aish isn't just an organization—it's a movement," emphasized Rabbi Steven Burg, sharing his vision for our future. Conference sessions covered exciting developments including Aish Ha'am, United Against Antisemitism, and new outreach initiatives designed to empower our educators worldwide. The conference balanced professional growth with meaningful connection. For many Aish educators who work in relative isolation throughout the year, these relationships provide vital energy and support. From brainstorming sessions to best practices in fundraising, participants gained practical tools while strengthening their shared mission. A particularly moving experience was our visit with Mrs. Iska Shteinberg, widow of Commander Yonatan Shteinberg, who fell on October 7th rushing to join his troops. As Rabbi Berkovits beautifully expressed, "More than we were blown away by Yonatan's sacrifice when he got up that morning to go and defend the Jewish people, we were all blown away by this family's decades of sacrifice for the Jewish people." We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Mayberg Foundation for their continued support in powering this impactful program that strengthens Aish's global mission of inspiring Jewish pride and wisdom worldwide. • "Building our students’ Jewish identity and self-esteem, based on the teaching, 'love your neighbor as yourself,’ creates school and community cultures that deeply reflect the values and wisdom that have sustained us for thousands of years.” That was the message Manette Mayberg, trustee of the Mayberg Foundation, delivered to 50 female educators who attended the Amatz Initiative’s 2025 Winter Conference. With the theme “We Are One Together,” the conference emphasized community-building among principals, staff, and students. The AMATZ Initiative, co-founded by Michele Weiss, Leba Schwebel, and Tzippy Reifer, is a Mayberg Foundation partner program that works in yeshivas and Jewish day schools to foster students’ emotional, intellectual, and spiritual connections to Hashem.

We applaud The Zionist Federation of Australia President Jeremy Leibler on his recent Jerusalem Post opinion piece, in which he states that the?? Jewish philanthropic response to October 7 and the resurgence in Jewish peoplehood that followed, need to focus on more than combating antisemitism. It must involve "serious investment in Jewish education and literacy – creating pathways for people, young and old, to develop a meaningful engagement with Jewish tradition. If we can achieve this, we will not only fight antisemitism–we will build something much stronger in its place." Serious investment in Jewish education and literacy is at the core of our mission of creating a vibrant Jewish future rooted in foundational Jewish principals and inclusive of diverse perspectives. The most impactful response to antisemitism is an unshakeable Jewish identity, which can only be achieved through meaningful Jewish education and experiences.

  • How can educators design a focused and meaningful Tanach curriculum? According to Jewish Day School Standards and Benchmarks Academic Director Cindy Reich, PhD, and Director of Field Operations Aviva Silverman, MA, using clear lenses and focus allows teachers to deepen student understanding and make Tanach study more relevant and impactful. Their insights are featured in a "Jewish Education Leadership" journal article by The Lookstein Center for Jewish Education . Jewish Day School Standards and Benchmarks, a program of the Davidson School at The Jewish Theological Seminary (JTS) and a Mayberg Foundation partner, supports schools in creating standards-based learning. This approach helps schools clarify their vision, align teaching goals, and engage students more deeply with foundational texts.?

  • Our partner, master educator, author and Orayta Rosh Yeshiva Rabbi David Aaron David, is joining The Lookstein Center for Jewish Education Lookstein Center team for a master class on a topic that is core to our mission and values: Welcoming God Into our Classrooms. ?? Join Master Educator Rabbi David Aaron and The Lookstein Center team in this exploration of Jewish spirituality. What do we mean by faith? By God? By Hashem? How can we inspire our students to embrace greater Hashem consciousness? How can we make limmud Torah and tefilla more meaningful and empowering? What does it really mean to live intentionally and how do we design classrooms that model that behavior? Through illuminating texts and inspiring discussions, this series will help us reconsider Jewish spirituality from the ground up, and reimagine how to build classrooms where God is always present.
