    DEALERS: These are the top 3 mistakes that held dealers back last year. To win in 2025, consider these changes: #1 DO NOT Rely on New Cars Your new car department opens the door for profitability in service, parts, F&I, and used cars, but it can't be the foundation of your business model in 2025. Why? Because it's not 2019. Higher floorplan rates, lack of affordability, and reduced OEM-to-dealer programs are the reality in 2025. Think of your new car department as an all-you-can-eat seafood buffet at a billion-dollar Las Vegas resort: It brings people into the casino (i.e., parts, service, F&I, etc.), but it typically loses money. #2 DO Change Your Appraisal Strategy If you want to sell more, you need to appraise more.?Period. Too many dealers are STILL relying on the auction in 2025, and the auction consistently delivers unfavorable profit outcomes for dealers. Not to mention, they rarely secure the in-demand vehicles their customers really want. If you haven't already, it's time to take a good, long look at your appraisal process and make some changes.
