SBIR Series #5: Submission and Selection Here’s a quick breakdown of the process: -Phase I Submission: Start by submitting your proposal through the designated SBIR portal. Double-check that all your paperwork, financials, and supporting documents are complete and accurate—small details matter! -The Review: Proposals are evaluated by experts in relevant DoD fields. They’re looking for feasibility, technical merit, and potential DoD impact, so be sure your proposal is both clear and compelling. -Selection & Notification: If selected, you’ll receive a notification inviting you to advance into Phase I or II. Timing can vary, but expect 2-3 months after submission. -Next Steps: For those advancing, it’s time to prove your concept and develop it for DoD application in Phase I, with the potential for funding in Phase II!

SBIR Series #4: The Importance of Collaboration One thing companies often overlook when pitching their technology to the Department of Defense is the impact that collaboration can have. We always urge companies to spend time networking at events like @FATHOMWERX Summit and in other collaborative environments to find potential partners and overlapping interests. -Attend Conferences: Look for DoD-hosted events where you can learn from SBIR program managers and meet key contacts. -Leverage Partnerships: Engage with organizations like Tech Bridges or accelerators—they can open doors and offer resources! -Stay Informed: Join SBIR groups online to exchange insights and find collaboration opportunities.
