?? Project Spotlight! NJ Department of Environmental Protection interviewed Project Manager, Mark J. Sprengel, about our work on the Liberty State Park Revitalization Program. Environmental Scientists, Kali Primiani and Mathew Heye, are featured in the below reel performing a slug test in the Central Railroad of New Jersey Train Shed. This test will aid in determining #groundwater recharge rates in the surrounding aquifer so accurate pumping rates can be calculated for dewatering during inspection of foundation piles which will be needed when restoring this historic structure. This program will transform #LibertyStatePark by adding one hundred acres of active recreational, arts, and cultural spaces along its perimeter, with a vibrant central park at its heart. The development will not only create world-class natural landscapes that bolster #resilience against flooding and #climatechange but also provide valuable spaces for local communities to engage in #recreation, #education, and #culturalenrichment. This project aims to significantly enhance quality of life for nearby residents, offering them greater access to green spaces and opportunities for connection and learning. Matrix is thrilled to be apart of such an impactful and exciting project! We are pleased to share that the CEQR & Land Use Planning and Noise teams at Matrix recently supported another successful client project with the NYC Board of Standards & Appeals (BSA) approval of the?8-10 Grand Avenue project?in Brooklyn, New York. The Client, Glacier Equities, sought a Use Variance from BSA in order to convert commercial uses to residential (Interim Multiple Dwelling (IMD) uses at the Project Site, which is mapped with an M1-2 zoning district.?The approved Use Variance will facilitate the conversion of approximately 11,700 gross square feet of floor area to residential/IMD uses within the existing 7-story mixed-use building at the Project Site.? ? Matrix prepared the NYC City Environmental Quality Review (CEQR) Environmental Assessment Statement and conducted the noise analysis for this project. Matrix collaborated with a larger team, including Urban Cartographics and others in advancing the application. At Matrix, when our clients succeed, we succeed! Congratulations to Matt Sloane, AICP, Matt Duffy, and Olga Abinader, ENV SP for their work on this application. ?
