Originally planned?and approved for permitting?as an 86-unit townhome community in?east?Mesa, AZ, the project has been redesigned as 132 modern, low-income multifamily apartments. In collaboration with?DevCo?US,?headquartered in Washington, and utilizing the Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) program, this development will provide much-needed affordable housing to Mesa, supporting the city’s growth?and housing goals. On March 11th, Matrix proudly volunteered to host a community dinner at the Woody and Millie Ingram Guest House in Colorado Springs. Located next to Penrose St. Francis Hospital, this 29,000-SF facility provides a comforting environment for families with loved ones receiving treatment. Ten Matrix employees from the Colorado Springs office came together to prepare and serve a meal, creating a sense of normalcy and connection for those facing difficult times. Matrix’s Government Consulting Services (GCS) team partnered with the Douglas County School District (DCSD) to develop a Service and Support Facilities Master Plan. This effort combined expertise from our GCS, GIS, and Environmental teams to create a data-driven strategic plan that identified capital improvement needs across DCSD's facilities. By leveraging GIS technology, conducting facility assessments, and applying asset management principles, the Matrix team supported DCSD in enhancing infrastructure, improving operational efficiency, and planning for future growth. Stakeholder engagement ensured alignment with the district’s long-term goals, resulting in a clear roadmap for facility investments. During Engineers Week, the Denver Matrix Design Group team hosted the SAME Denver Metro Post Career Exploration event which was a great success. A small group of Golden High School students explored STEM careers in engineering, water resources, and ecology through hands-on flow table simulations led by our team members—showcasing real-world challenges. Special thank you to our Matrix speakers—Garrett Anderson, PE, (Civil), Julianna Valenzuela (Water Resources), and Madeline B. (Ecology)—for sharing their career journeys and expertise. At Matrix Design Group, our team understands that engaging with the community is crucial for successfully implementing projects that will positively impact and benefit residents. With every project we undertake, we are committed to connecting with the community by working directly with key stakeholder groups. Recently, the Planning Team had the privilege of being hosted by the South Central Collaborative (SCC), where we provided an update of our implementation of the South Central Corridor Transit Oriented Development (TOD) Community Plan. The meeting provided an opportunity for SCC members to share their input, helping us refine key implementation actions and identify priority project opportunities. The open forum sparked insightful and engaging discussions, allowing us to learn about ongoing community initiatives that we can incorporate into our project. Matrix has been working with the City of Phoenix, SCC, and other stakeholders to advance the actions outlined in the South Central TOD Community Plan since August 2024, focusing on: ? Supporting equitable transit-oriented communities ? Providing regulatory recommendations for short-term progress toward achieving the community vision ? Minimizing displacement ? Attracting, guiding, and prioritizing strategic investments in community development, infrastructure, housing, and economic development Matrix is excited to continue collaborating with the SCC and other community partners as we work to bring this important vision to life.
