As part AIANY's Center for Architecture "Discover Architecture" program, we hosted a high school student for three days in true alignment with our mentoring philosophy. We introduced the student to some behind-the-scenes aspects to the profession, technology and our general design process. See more on the program at https://lnkd.in/dKjqVV5 We've loved being a part of this program for five years! AIA New York | Center for Architecture #architecture #design #mentorship

Inspired design that fosters individuality and builds community.
关于我们
We are an architecture and design firm that captures and transforms each client’s vision. By leading a collaborative effort to understand and develop a project’s goals, we create environments that bring human experience to physical space. We design at the intersection of where big meets small with projects that inspire. As a result, we build a strong foundation for architecture as part of the larger world. Any project, of any scale, has an impact that resonates within the community around it. MAD operates with the philosophy that design is an integrated and cross-disciplined process. The studio is composed of architects along with interior and graphic designers from diverse backgrounds that strategically collaborate on the various projects. Due to our versatility, MAD’s team has a portfolio that has served a wide variety of clients. These range across regional, national, and international typologies, focusing on institutional clients in the education fields and work space environments. Our client list includes New York University, Columbia University, Pratt Institute, The Santa Fe Opera, and community focused entities such as The Boy and Girls Club, and Planned Parenthood.

The New York City Ballet has called Lincoln Center’s David H. Koch Theater home since 1964. Over the years, the building’s 5th floor has served as a practice and exercise space for NYCB dancers and, more recently, as a facility for physical therapy staff. To better support the well-being of its performers, NYCB engaged MAD to transform a 4,500sf portion of this floor into a dedicated Physical Therapy and Wellness Suite—a thoughtfully designed space focused on enhancing dancer health and performance. At the core of the project, three curved bamboo wall panels evoke the fluid movement of dancers, reinforcing a sense of harmony and flow. The new Suite provides the New York City Ballet with a revitalized facility that reflects the grace, precision, and dedication of its world-class dancers. More at: https://lnkd.in/ejDUPwQf

We had a wonderful time celebrating with our traditional potluck luncheon at the studio, enjoying a delightful, multi-ethnic spread of sweet and savory dishes from all over the world. As we reflect on all that we are thankful for—both personally and professionally—we are filled with appreciation. Here’s to closing out 2024 on a high note and looking ahead to an exciting and prosperous 2025! #happythanksgiving

A MAD retreat: Our team spent last Friday in the New Canaan CT area visiting two architectural gems after a great brunch in the center of town. The tour of Philip Johnson's Glass House (1949) and property was followed by a visit to the SANAA wonderfully designed Grace Farms (2015) where we wandered the site and took in the colorful landscape! The team discussed these wonderfully detailed projects and appreciated their history as explained by the great guides. Where will we go next year?

As part of a multi-phased renovation at Columbia University, we carefully updated portions of the 14th and 15th floors at the School of International & Public Affairs. New conference rooms and offices elegantly responded to the original building's architecture by introducing large expansive glass surfaces and new materials that complemented the 1970's interiors. The newly renovated large multipurpose area overlooking NYC is ready for special events too! #renovation #architecture #education #interiors #collaboration #internationalaffairs
