My conversation with God & the parolee: God -"Pick up that guy walking down the road and invite him to church.” Me - I continue to drive to church thinking, “Is that you saying this, God?” God - “Turn around and pick up the guy walking on the road and invite him to church.” Me - “He’s way back there now, and I’ll be late if I do, besides I'm learning so much from this audible book, and it will help impact people”?? I keep driving God - “You should pick up that guy and invite him to church.” Me - “Ok” I turn around & start driving back... seems like he's gone. All of a sudden, there he is... I slow down and roll down my window as I cross to his side of the road. Me - “Do you want a ride?” Guy walking on the road - Aka Anthony - YES! Me - I drive to where I can turn around to pick him up. I think about some kung fu moves in case the unthinkable happens.?? He (Anthony) gets in the car and I introduce myself and ask.where he’s headed. “about 10 miles down the road & appreciate as far as you can take me” Me - “how come you're walking down this road in the middle of nowhere?” Anthony tells me a bit of his story, and then we talk about life and overcoming obstacles. I told him that I hitchhiked across the country when I was 24 and always appreciated when I got a ride. I start to learn about his story and find out he's on parole after spending most of his life in prison. Anthony, are you up to coming to church with me and I can drive you all the way afterward? He looked at his torn jeans and white T-shirt and said “can I go like this?” Heck ya! It's not about the clothes we wear. We get to church and sit down. He sleeps through the service, and that's OK! Afterward he asked me “how long were we in there... man I had a good sleep.” I chuckled and said, “about an hour.” As I drove him to his destination. I learned more about his story, and he lets me know how hard it is being outside of prison. I ask Anthony how I can help him, and I ask if I can pray for him and he says “yes, please" He was so appreciative, and he didn't ask for anything. Key takeaways: The opportunities that God provides for you are often disguised as inconveniences. *We aren't responsible for the end result... it's our job to listen to God's voice and act in love with those he brings across our path. If you don't believe in Jesus, no worries! Serving and helping others is the key. Those of you that do! I challenge you to pray to be sensitive to God's voice as he's talking to you consistently and allowing people into your life for a reason. Act on his direction, and your life will have meaning & fulfillment You were created to serve. Jesus "I did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” You never know how one kind word or deed can change someone's life. Go with the intention to Serve not sell! In business and life! #gorockthisday
