Helping women succeed in public service by enhancing career-building models that develop leadership skills and by networking professional women in government in Massachusetts. The Massachusetts Municipal Management Association established the Women Leading Government Committee as a formal committee in 2018. Its mission is to educate, mentor, encourage and support women in the local government profession. While its focus is to provide resources and support for women in municipal government or those interested in a career in local government, all are welcome and encouraged to participate.

A trailblazer for all of us!!
Today we’re honoring Supreme Court Justice #RuthBaderGinsburg on what would have been her 92nd birthday. She was a trailblazer who shattered barriers and fought tirelessly for gender equality. Her legacy lives on in every woman who stands up for her rights.
Such an amazing turnout for our day of learning and networking!!!! And because of the call to action by MMA president, John Mangiaratti, we have gained over 40 followers in the last week!!

We are proud to honor this year’s Judy L. Kelsey Scholarship recipients: Allison “Fredi” Hayes and Jaritza “Jari” Nunez. Named after a pioneer in local government, this scholarship supports emerging women leaders in the ICMA Local Government Management Fellowship (LGMF) program. ? Allison “Fredi” Hayes - Currently a fellow in Town of Shelburne, Vermont, Fredi has already secured a $73,000 grant to expand electric vehicle infrastructure and is helping to navigate new state requirements for local volunteers. ? Jaritza “Jari” Nunez - A fellow in The City of Bakersfield, Jari is driving innovative projects focused on accessibility and equity, with a passion for affordable housing and economic development. She is committed to fostering inclusive communities. Both women are shaping the future of local government, thanks to this scholarship. Congratulations, Fredi and Jari!?
