Cambridge Health Alliance (CHA) welcomed U.S. Rep. Katherine Clark (D-MA-5), who serves as Minority Whip, to the CHA Malden Care Center as part of a National Day of Action to protect Medicaid. MassHealth, the Medicaid program in Massachusetts, covers one in three state residents and more than half of CHA patients. Rep. Clark and Kate Walsh, secretary of Health and Human Services, took part in a roundtable discussion with CHA CEO Assaad Sayah, MD, physicians and patients that highlighted how Medicaid is critical to the CHA mission. #Medicaid

Speaking at the NPA Spring Policy Forum, Shawn Bloom, president and CEO of the National PACE Association, said it is critical to educate congressional staff about how PACE organizations provide comprehensive care to more than 80,000 older adults with complex needs whose care could be negatively affected by Medicaid policy changes. PACE Capitol Hill Day will be held tomorrow, March 18, so Congress can hear directly from the PACE community about its priorities and needs. https://bit.ly/43PgceW #Medicaid #healthcare #healthcarepolicy #NPA2025SPF

“A growing population of Americans are eligible for PACE, and many of them are increasingly interested in aging at home, yet only a fraction of older adults are enrolled in the program,” said Craig Worland, COO of?One Senior Care. “We’re expanding our footprint to help meet this growing need. We encourage policy-makers to reduce barriers to opening, operating, and enrolling participants in PACE so that together we can bring high-quality PACE services to the aging population.”

Congress must focus on issues of importance to skilled nursing, assisted living and other providers, the Post-Acute and Long-Term Care Medical Association (PALTmed) said in a recent letter to lawmakers. Among the issues are workforce challenges, Medicare payment reform and telehealth expansion. “We respectfully request that Congress prioritize these issues and take meaningful steps to address them during this legislative session,” said PALTmed president?Rajeev Kumar, MD. PALTmed members work in skilled nursing facilities, assisted living communities, home care agencies, hospice programs, PACE, and other post-acute and long-term care settings.
