Meet Andrew Birgel, our new General Agent! Andrew is originally from Baltimore, Maryland. He has seen the less glamorous side that business owners face on a daily basis. The long hours, the economic pressures, and the necessity of care for those in your charge. These two experiences shaped Andrew’s outlook on the possibilities of Recruiting, Developing, and Supporting Financial Service Professionals who work to empower their clients’ economic confidence with sound guidance and care. Andrew attended Francis Marion University in Florence, South Carolina, where he majored in Political Science. Upon graduation, he moved to Charleston, SC. Instantly, he fell in love with the Lowcountry and the quality of life it provided. He started his career at New York Life in Charleston. It was there he met his partner, Alyse. After 5 years of both highs and lows, he and Alyse embarked on a new chapter together in NYC in 2010. It was in New York that he met his first Mentor and Boss, Josh Becker. Josh Becker is the General Agent for Strategies for Wealth, Guardian’s Most Successful and storied General Agency. Under Josh’s guidance, Andrew learned both the Art and Science of Recruiting. After 8 years and a few accomplishments both recognized locally and nationally, Andrew moved to Northwestern Mutual at their Park Avenue office under the Leadership and Mentorship of the Managing Partner, Adam Seiden. Andrew’s responsibility was to recruit and develop a Team of Advisors. During those 5 years, Andrew had the privilege to coach and develop the most inclusive Team of FRs in the Network Office and at the time regionally. The results of that Team led to 3 consecutive New Agent of the Year honors from the Team, Top Ten New Org in Class Advisors(nationally), 4 Leadership appointments from the Team, countless career production benchmarks achieved by the Team. One of the lessons Andrew learned from Adam Seiden, “Recruiting and Leadership Development solves all problems for an Agency”.? It was in March of 2023, that Andrew and Alyse decided “quality of life and time” with Logan (9) and Charlotte (4) was the priority. Andrew’s professional responsibilities in NYC required a schedule of out by 5am home by 8 or 9pm. It was not the memory he wanted his children to look back on when they think of their upbringing. They were blessed to make the decision in coming back to Charleston and while 13 years removed, being back has been incredibly natural! Andrew’s learned philosophy is to meet people where they are, be the lever to someone’s potential not the lid, and grow Leaders through authentic relationship building. Andrew is incredibly grateful for each and every opportunity this noble profession has afforded him and his Family.? Welcome to the team! ??
