After graduating from high school in 2011, Rachel hadn’t set foot in a classroom for over a decade. But thirteen years later, she decided to make a bold career change and enrolled in the ETeam Machinist Program at Lynn Vocational Technical Institute. With hard work, determination, and a leap of faith, she graduated and is now making history as one of the first female machinists at American Power Services! Rachel’s story is a powerful reminder that it’s never too late to pursue new goals and break barriers in traditionally male-dominated fields. Her journey is an inspiration to all who are considering a career change or entering the skilled trades. Congratulations, Rachel! ??♀???

?? BIG NEWS! ?? This week, we're thrilled to announce that the Healey-Driscoll Administration has awarded $4.2 million in Senator Kenneth J. Donnelly Workforce Success Grants. These funds, administered by Commonwealth Corporation on behalf of the Executive Office of Labor and supported through the Workforce Competitiveness Trust Fund, will empower nine workforce training programs across the state, impacting a wide range of industries, including healthcare, technology, and construction. The announcement was made in Salem at the MassHire North Shore Workforce Board, one of the grantees, where Secretary Lauren Jones joined in sharing the exciting news. Salem Mayor Dominick Pangallo and State Representative Manny Cruz were also in attendance to celebrate the news! MassHire North Shore will receive funding to train 100 workers in CNC machining. Reflecting on a successful Workforce Development Month: ? Launched the Massachusetts Workforce Skills Fund, a pilot stipend program to reduce barriers to job training for unemployed and underemployed individuals. ? Expanded job training programs for those facing employment barriers, including residents of Emergency Assistance shelters. ? Secured a $1M grant from the U.S. Department of Labor to expand Registered Apprenticeships in Massachusetts. ? Announced $11M in Workforce Training Fund awards to 125 businesses across the state in 2024. Workforce Training Fund Program grants awarded in 2024 are a key component of the Healey-Driscoll Administration’s strategy to strengthen and grow Massachusetts' workforce. These grants will provide critical training in areas such as ESOL, project management, software/IT, and machine setup and operation. With this investment, 6,600 workers are expected to receive skills training directly in the workplace, and employers anticipate adding over 1,400 new jobs across the state within the next two years.
