MassHousing is a self-supporting not-for-profit public agency created in 1966 to support affordable homeownership and rental housing opportunities in Massachusetts. MassHousing does not use taxpayer dollars, but sells bonds to fund its programs. Since its inception, MassHousing has provided more than $29.5 billion in financing for homebuyers and homeowners, and for developers and owners of affordable rental housing. In recent years, MassHousing has also supported the Commonwealth of Massachusetts by contributing funds to offset budget cuts to state housing programs.

Congratulations to the Cambridge Housing Authority and the City of Cambridge on breaking ground today on the complete revitalization of the former Jefferson Park Federal public housing community. The first two phases of the project will involve the replacement of the original 175 public housing units with the addition of 103 new units for a total of 278. MassHousing is pleased to be part of this transformative project that will bring brand new deeply affordable public housing to the city.
