On this day in 1945, U.S. Marines—including many from Massachusetts—stormed the island of Iwo Jima and fought one of the fiercest battles of the Pacific War. Admiral Nimitz’s words call on us to embody that same courage not just in war but also in our daily commitment to veterans. May we honor their sacrifice, remember their bravery, and uphold their legacy.
