The Oxford Motor Neuron Disease Centre hosted the 2nd UK PLS Day on 25 Sept 2024, bringing together people living with Primary Lateral Sclerosis (#PLS) and their carers to share the latest research, treatment and practical support. Hosted by Professor Martin Turner, the day also featured talks from David Lester, Emma Hodson-Tole, Phillippa Sharpe, Sabrina Paganoni and Rachel Woolrich. At the Healey & AMG Center for ALS, we are on a quest to discover life-saving therapies for approximately 500,000 people worldwide who are affected by amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). As our team grows, we are seeking a Nurse Practioner /APP to join us. The advanced practice provider (APP) will be responsible for aspects of protocols and policies for research studies of ALS, within the scope of the advanced practice license as defined by the government of Massachusetts.??The ALS Research APP also practices as a provider in the clinic (approximately 25% of time spent clinically) and sees a panel of patients that alternates between seeing an ALS physician and this APP. New research from Mass General Brigham reveals how lifestyle choices can protect your brain health, even for those with a genetic risk of stroke, dementia, or late-life depression. Researchers from the McCance Center for Brain Health at MGH found that a higher Brain Care Score (BCS –a measure of healthy lifestyle habits–was linked to a reduced risk of these brain conditions, even in individuals with a genetic predisposition.
