It's a wrap! What did we learn this time at Masovian AI Fest? That sometimes it's best just to go out and talk to people. No stress, no fanfare. No "esteemed speaker, distinguished guest of the evening." That such relaxed and small initiatives open up the event world to people who might not usually show up. I'm absolutely amazed that for some guests, this was their first event of this kind! Which doesn't mean they're not active or interested! Just looking for the welcoming space. And of course – diversity! From students working on their projects to representatives from Silicon Valley. No barriers, just genuine openness. 1?? Katarzyna Klimek showed us how we can get started on prototyping our solutions or implementing projects in collaboration with Inkubator Uniwersytetu Warszawskiego. And it's not just for students. There's a lot of hidden value there! I must admit, access to infrastructure and ambitious talent eager to collaborate is tempting. I recommend reaching out to her about this! Bulk PoC development, here I come. 2?? J?drzej ?wie?ewski, PhD, came before the audience with absolute passion for what he does. And suddenly it became clear that cormorant nests are extremely important even for developers working with algorithms. Also, he discussed how supporting science contributes to positive employer branding, morale, and credibility. Time is limited – let's ask ourselves when it's worth doing things for money and when for ourselves. Surprisingly, these can align. Kudos to Appsilon. 3?? Jerzy Or?owski, with his energy, told us about how MIM Solutions scientific-business team manages to bridge both worlds. He explained the benefits of bringing a scientific mindset (deep diving into topics, analytical approach, knowledge-seeking, but also getting fixated on less important issues) as well as a business mindset (focus on delivering value, agile processes, knowing when to drop a topic if it's not viable). Additionally, he gave a whole lecture on building the right architecture for analyzing and classifying physical outdoor campaigns! ____________________________ Personally, I didn’t make it to the end of all the behind-the-scenes discussions. But the limit of stimuli and topics in my head required an escape into the dark night. Still, I left with satisfaction, knowing that lively discussions and friendly laughter continued behind me. Please welcome Katarzyna Klimek as our first speaker during Masovian AI Fest - Back To School Edition! Thinking about creating a spin-off of your company? She'll tell us a bit about commercial projects between universities and businesses. (and vice versa!) Who's Katarzyna? At Inkubator Uniwersytetu Warszawskiego (UW Incubator), she's supporting the development of student projects into fully fledged startups. But wait, there's more! Since 2009, she has been actively participating in the Polish startup ecosystem. She worked for seed VC funds (SpeedUp Group, LMS Invest) and accelerators (Mazovian Startup, Academic Startup League, Warsaw Booster). For two years she was an incubation manager at the Startup Heroes. Also acting as a mentor for commercialization of innovations. On a daily basis, she supports innovative projects developed by students or scientists. She developed a startup in the cosmetics industry at the Virgin Accelerator in London and sold it to an industry buyer (exit 2020). Currently, she is the co-founder of the startup KlubAktywnych.pl in the Age-Tech area. She also runs the Pax Cordis Foundation.
