Class 3 of the 2024 Start SMART Small Business Series (Prince William County) took place on Oct 8, 2024 at Woodbridge, VA. The session focused on Banking Services available to small businesses. Mason SBDC Senior Business Counselor, George Siragusa ('Coach S') presented a segment of the training to 33 participants who were in attendance. The business series is a 11-week training program being held exclusively for existing and aspiring business owners in Prince William County. George manned a networking table?in George Mason University (Founders' Hall) in Arlington,?to?provide?information and?represent?resources available from?the Mason Small Business Development Center,?for small businesses?who were either starting out as government contractors or looking to grow and scale their businesses. This?year's?Summit?was?an opportunity to learn more about the policies and practices creating challenges and opportunities for small firms, their teammates, and the?government?agencies trying to do business with them.? The 2024?conference event was?focused?on innovations in both civilian and defense contracting intended to support small businesses while meeting emerging needs.??The discussions explored?how use of the procurement?thresholds affects small business innovation, and how access to capital?can pose?challenges?to?small?emerging?government contracting businesses.
