Today we're highlighting one of the great concurrent sessions at the April 9th and 10th virtual conference! Dr. Sophie King-Hill and Dr. Kieran McCartan present on Sibling Sexual Behavior and Abuse and their SSB mapping tool. Their session will highlight the research evidence base, resources and approaches that have developed over the past four years in relation to sibling sexual behavior and abuse, providing guidance for practitioners on how to work with this complex and often nuanced issue. (Virtually) next door, Dr. Judith Zatkin will be discussing best practices in prevention science, current public health models of prevention, successful prevention-based interventions, and emerging trends in the prevention field. https://lnkd.in/gpUeddQk

Today we're shouting out our partners at the Ware River Valley (MA) Domestic Violence Task Force. The group?put together?a booklist?on boundaries and consent for ages 0-8.?Using a small?grant,?they're also?purchasing books for schools, libraries, family centers, and other community organizations, and have volunteers doing library reading times with activities. It's such a great example of boosting protective factors for multiple issues, and a really nice collaboration that is very replicable at a local scale!

One of the most powerful things about our shared work is that it is hopeful. Our tag line is, "For a world free of sexual harm by youth." When we think about effective treatment and resources for youth with harmful sexual behaviors, of course we're thinking about resourcing young people so they don't repeat harmful behaviors. But we're working toward more than that: equipping them with the skills, support, and knowledge to have healthy, meaningful relationships of all kinds throughout the rest of their lives. All the work we do together to prevent harm before it happens--from educating the adults in kids' lives, to ensuring access to accessible, inclusive, age- and stage-appropriate sexuality and relationship education, to organizational and state policy--moves us closer to a world free of sexual harm by youth. Lots of love for all the work you do, all the kids and caregivers you support, and for being a part of this community of practice.
