At Portland State's Maseeh College, we believe in the power of difference. We're a hub for makers, innovators, and researchers who dare to think creatively, learn by doing, and tackle the world's challenges. Our students are Anything But Ordinary. Tomorrow, as the Portland Business Journal honors women of influence, including PSU's own, we're celebrating our students who embody that very spirit. Meet Natalie Violetta Frank, a true embodiment of Anything But Ordinary and Maseeh's pick for a woman of influence, who has mastered the art of making an impact. Currently delving into a doctoral degree in Mechanical Engineering with a focus on microgravity research, Natalie is harnessing her PSU education to advocate for STEM diversity. Driven by a desire to find innovative solutions to global challenges, she's shaping a future that inspires and empowers.

Even though women globally make up over half the students enrolled in tertiary education, in 2023, according to Unesco, they still made up 35% of the graduates in scientific fields, with no progress recorded in that sense over the past ten years. Unsurprisingly, the number of those choosing one of the PECS fields shrinks further. Read the full article about the disproportionately lower numbers of female engineers at https://buff.ly/4jz78jU
