From developing solar-powered water filtration systems for rural villages to producing water safety materials, Texas Engineers embody the significance of #WorldWaterDay and innovation ?? Access to clean water is challenging for many parts of the world, but Texas Engineers are tackling this issue through our International Engineering Education (IEE) program. One standout initiative is led by Manish Kumar, professor in the Fariborz Maseeh Department of Civil, Architectural and Environmental Engineering, who takes students to Kenya for a Maymester course focused on designing solar-powered water filtration systems. This project provides clean water solutions for rural communities and equips future engineers with real-world problem-solving skills. Flying in for #SXSW this weekend? You're not alone. It's one of the busiest air traffic times of the year in Austin, and a great time to think about the role air travel plays in the global push to reduce emissions. Kara Kockelman, professor in the Maseeh Department of Civil, Architectural and Environmental Engineering, will participate in a panel discussion, "Path to Net-Zero 2050: Blue Skies or a Bumpy Flight?" joining experts from the airline industry to examine opportunities and roadblocks to sustainable aviation. We'll see y'all there! ?? ——— Chris Sipos | Cesar Pereira | SXSW | United Airlines

The classroom is not confined to just four walls - sometimes it involves assembling four new ones! Our lab took part in assembling a modular house graciously donated by ROKiT homes this past week. Graduate and undergraduate students in the Fariborz Maseeh Department of Civil, Architectural and Environmental Engineering got valuable hands-on experience, and we look forward to seeing how this 'living lab' can be used in our research (specifically for #affordablehousing). Thanks Marianne Saab for this cool video showcasing this activity! Cockrell School of Engineering, The University of Texas at Austin #whatstartshere #modularconstruction #housing #hookem
