Congratulations to all involved in the Keene Public Library expansion! Mascoma Community Development (MCD) was pleased to provide New Markets Tax Credit funds to support this project. MCD is a Community Development Entity (CDE) and subsidiary of Mascoma Bank.
Congratulations to the Keene Public Library and City of Keene on the official conclusion of the Keene Public Library expansion project, as MEDC officially transferred the property to the City of Keene earlier this month. Thank you to the City, the Library Board of Trustees, Michelle LeClair and the NMTC team at Mascoma Bank, and everyone else who helped make this project a reality. Completed in 2018, the Keene Public Library expansion project was a long-term community effort to connect the main library to a neighboring annex building, a former masonic lodge. The project resulted in over $13,000,000 in new investment, created one full-time equivalent job (FTE), and created 79 construction jobs. The annex building contains nearly 15,000 sq. ft. of finished space and includes Heberton Hall. The project creates new community spaces and bring the historical structure up to code. As part of the financing package, MEDC arranged for $4 million in New Markets Tax Credits, which are geared toward promoting economic development in low-income areas. The expanded facilities now serve as a vital community space for City residents and beyond.

Mandy volunteers at Potter's Angels Rescue in Vermont. She serves as Board President, is one of the foster coordinators, manages intake, and plans and facilitates transport for the animals. They make bags full of treats, toys, blankets, and medical records to make an easier transition for the animals and their new families. One of the perks of working for Mascoma Bank is paid time off for volunteering. It gives team members a chance to connect with people and causes that are important to them and helps us learn more about the communities we serve.

Mascoma Community Development (MCD) announced the successful closing of a New Markets Tax Credit (NMTC) financing transaction in support of GreenSource Fabrication LLC, a subsidiary of Whelen Engineering Company, Inc. The transaction will support its new manufacturing facility located in Charlestown, New Hampshire (Sullivan County). “MCD is pleased to provide NMTC funding to support the GreenSource project and be part of Whelen’s expansion in New Hampshire while creating new jobs in our region and a rural community. This project also represents an opportunity to increase manufacturing in the United States by a company that prioritizes environmentally friendly practices,” says Michelle LeClair, Chief Investment Officer of MCD.
