  • Mascari Dinh Architects is excited to attend the Groundbreaking event of the new 5-story, 105,000-square foot Loma Linda University Children’s Health Specialty Clinics. The facility will house 20 specialized pediatric clinics, with 150 exam rooms and various support services, all designed to meet OSHPD-3 standards and be under the Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital license. A flexible design approach allows for future adaptability, enabling clinics to be phased in and out of the building as needed. The facility will also provide centralized operations, offering imaging and laboratory services to support patient care. The project’s design concept, “A Tree Planted by the Water,” draws inspiration from the faith-based mission of the hospital. A prominent tree near the main entrance, along with a stream-like paving pattern, symbolizes the theme of life and hope. This theme extends into the interior, where playful, nature-inspired elements such as colorful fruits, insects, birds, and other wildlife are featured on each floor, creating a welcoming, child-centered atmosphere. The building’s exterior design is contemporary yet thoughtfully integrated with the campus’s existing architecture. It incorporates selective use of colorful vertical glass, which echoes elements found in the existing Children’s Hospital. The project is slated for completion in the fall of 2026. #groundbreaking #lluch

  • We are proud to be part of the UC San Diego Central Utility Plant (CUP) ribbon cutting ceremony with Chancellor Pradeep K. Khosla. As one of the nation’s top-rated colleges in science and innovation, UCSD's future growth relies heavily on robust infrastructure. The CUP Expansion is vital for supporting current and future campus demands. This project presented unique architectural challenges due to its location in the Historic Grove. Mascari Dinh Architects' concept of a “Lantern in the Forest” beautifully reflects the facility's purpose—providing essential services 24/7 while glowing through the night. Key features include: A sloped roof to blend with the hillside Glass roll-up doors and clerestory glazing for natural light Sustainable materials inspired by the surrounding landscape, including wood textured concrete exterior finishes The expansion, set on a 1.8 acre site, includes a 13,000 sf building with 6,500 sf basement and 4,500 sf floor area, two three-ton capacity chillers and cooling towers, and adheres to UCSD’s Tree Replacement Policy to maintain the campus' lush environment designed for future expansion. Together, we are paving the way for a sustainable and innovative future at UCSD!? #UCSD #Mascari Dinh Architects #Whiting-Turner #Dufoe Consulting Engineers, Inc. a Salas O’Brien Company #P2S #landLab landscape architecture + environmental design #Nasland Engineering

  • As part of California Seismic Mandate SB-1953, Mascari Dinh Architects recently completed a new 2-story, 30,000 square foot, I-2 Occupancy ground-up Ancillary Hospital Building in El Centro, California for El Centro Regional Medical Center. The facility provides required basic service functions including pharmacy, central sterile, material management, dietary services, morgue, administration, and medical records. The project’s architectural style has the feel of desert modernism, set in the desert floor and arid landscape with mountain views that surround the valley.
