Building rockets and engineers from design to apogee!
关于我们
The Michigan Aeronautical Science Association of Dearborn (MASA-Dearborn) is the experimental rocketry team at the University of Michigan-Dearborn. Each year the team builds a high powered rocket for the annual Spaceport America Cup where we compete against teams from across the globe to see who can build the most innovative payload and launch closest to 30,000 ft.

Shoutout to the MASA-Dearborn Rocketry Team Electrical Team! Last Friday, our electrical team presented their Preliminary Design Review (PDR) to the rest of the team, professors, and alumni. The hard work, attention to detail, and dedication from our new members and our soon-to-be graduating seniors was truly inspiring. A special shout out to the electrical team's leaders: Alex Sufaj, Andrew Brown, Fatima Soueidan, and Mouhamad Hamzah Ismail! I’m so proud of their work and excited to see the electrical team's designs come to life alongside the mechanical team in the upcoming manufacturing and testing phases. Keep up the amazing work, and remember that we are united for the skies! ??

We just finished our Electrical Preliminary Design Review (EPDR) for the rocket project, and I couldn’t be prouder of our team! It was an incredible experience presenting alongside some of the brilliant minds on our electrical team. Each bringing expertise and dedication that pushed the boundaries of our designs. I had the opportunity to share some of the software aspects that tie into our electrical systems, which was both exciting and a bit nerve-wracking. I’ll be honest, presenting slides isn’t exactly my comfy place, but I’m glad I did it. Looking back, the stress was far greater in anticipation than in reality. It was a great reminder that stepping out of comfort zones can be rewarding. A big shout-out to everyone on the team for their hard work and vision. "Coming together is a beginning. Keeping together is progress. Working together is success." – Henry Ford MASA-Dearborn Rocketry Team

Hello everyone! I’m graduating in April 2025 and am currently seeking winter co-ops, internships, and entry-level positions. If you know of any relevant opportunities or just want to connect, please feel free to reach out! #OpenToWork A little bit about me... I will be obtaining a B.S.E. in Mechanical Engineering, with a focus on materials science and manufacturing. I’ve gained hands-on experience through leadership roles in Society of Women Engineers UM-Dearborn, team projects with MASA-Dearborn Rocketry Team and FIRST, and have applied my skills and classwork through research and teaching assistant opportunities at University of Michigan-Dearborn. I’m passionate about making an impact in the aerospace and engineering fields through innovative design, collaboration, and research. I’m open to opportunities in Michigan and the Midwest and would appreciate any connections, advice, or referrals. Thank you!

I have admired the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) since I started going to the University of Michigan-Dearborn in 2017 but I didn't have the space on my plate until this year. I became able to responsibly dedicate time while also going to school full time, working part time, and being a member of the MASA-Dearborn Rocketry Team. I anticipated joining was going to be a positive experience but I had no clue how absolutely mind altering it would be to be apart of such an elite club. The new perspective I get from working with such dedicated, hardworking, motivated women has completely readjusted my view of what it means to be a woman in engineering. More women in engineering gives innovation a broader scope. Whether or not their contributions are recognized, there have been and always will be woman Engineers. It is up to us to ensure that UM-Ds women in engineering are cultivated to the best of their abilities and I am very honored to be apart of that effort. In none of the spaces that I have been apart of have I felt as valued and cherished as I do on SWE. That fuels me to be even more dedicated and work even harder to ensure our continued success as an organization. Thank you so much to the eboard for selecting me to be SWEetie of the month. You don't know what it means to me, especially now, while my homeland is being destroyed. Alhamdulillah for everything.
We’re excited to announce Alia Seblini as SWEetie of the Month! Alia is a super senior majoring in Mechanical Engineering, with minors in Mathematics and Economics. She’s passionate about empowering women in STEM and is involved in activities like MASA (UM-D Rocket Team), activism, and art. Alia believes in cultivating women engineers and is honored to contribute to SWE’s mission. Congrats, Alia!

It’s not just Rocket Science!?? Join MASA-Dearborn and explore the fundamentals of rocketry through our Level-1 Certification class, held every Thursday from 4:00-6:00 PM and Friday from 5:00-7:00 PM in MSEL. In this course, you’ll have the opportunity to build and launch your own model rocket, working towards earning a national rocketry certification. Our team’s work extends beyond rocketry. Attend our mechanical meetings every Wednesday at 6:00 PM in IAVS 2004, where you’ll learn CAD and 3D printing. Additionally, join our electrical meetings on Thursdays at 6:00 PM in IAVS 2004 to gain hands-on experience with Altium for electrical design. #MASADearborn #Engineering #Design #Mechanical #Electrical #CECS #UMDearborn #GoBlue #GoDearborn #Rocketry #Tripoli
