关于我们
Since SHA’s inception as the State Roads Commission in 1908, the organization has built on its foundation of quality and integrity. We are proud of our tradition of excellence and happy to share our vision, our beliefs and our values with you. We believe that building a successful organization is similar to building roads or bridges because it all starts with a solid foundation. Instead of standard construction materials, we rely on our most important assets -- our values and our people. The State Highway Administration constantly strives to improve our team’s skills through a variety of career development programs.

Pop quiz – do you know what RRFBs are? The answer is... Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacons. These devices flash with high frequency when activated at a pedestrian crossing and alert drivers. We recently installed RRFBs at two locations in Middletown in Frederick County. We’re highlighting the new safety features as part of #PedestrianSafetyMonth

We’ve been making our way around Prince George’s County?to refresh and upgrade crosswalk markings. Check out the continental crosswalks at MD 450 and Hillmeade Road in Bowie. Continental crosswalks have thicker striping that runs parallel to the travel lanes, making the crossings more visible – and safer! – to pedestrians and motorists. #MDOTSafety

??Bus Lane Success?? Over the summer, the Maryland State Highway Administration teamed up with the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) and the Montgomery County Department of Transportation to create bus-only lanes along Georgia Avenue in Montgomery County. The bus lanes increased the average number of people moved along the corridor per hour by 900. Bus speeds also increased as much as 16%. There were four fewer crashes between Glenmont and Silver Spring during June and July of 2024, compared to the same time last year. Learn more about the bus lanes and the pilot project continuing through Dec. 31 - https://lnkd.in/eT6bHq-x #Transit #Bus
