(Lutherville-Timonium, MD – August 27, 2024) The Maryland State Golf Association (MSGA) announced today that more than 6,700 rounds of golf have been played at Baltimore County and Baltimore City courses so far this year for $5 a round, by members of its Youth on Course Maryland program.? Youth on Course Maryland, affiliated with the national program, gives youth members ages 6-18 affordable access to play golf for $5 or less per round at 24 participating golf courses in Maryland and Washington, DC, and at more than 2,000 course nationwide. “Our participation in Youth on Course gives more kids the opportunity to enjoy and play the great game of golf at a low cost, and provides them with a positive social outlet,” stated Richard Sheppard PGA, Head Golf Pro at Forest Park Golf Course. Currently there are more than 4,700 Youth on Course members in Maryland and Washington D.C. A large portion of these youth members play at courses affiliated with Baltimore County Golf and the Baltimore Municipal Golf Corporation. The MSGA provides subsidies to participating golf courses to help offset the difference between their standard junior golf rate and the $5 Youth on Course rate, ensuring affordable access to golf for our youth. “The program’s popularity has been so strong that we’ve had to adjust our hours due to the influx of junior golfers. It’s a challenge, but it’s also a testament to how Youth on Course is one of the many programs helping to grow the game.,” stated Tim Butler PGA, Head Golf Pro at Greystone Golf Course.??? ? Youth on Course Maryland is a year-round program provided by the Maryland State Golf Association and is presented by the Caves Valley Golf Club Foundation
