Port Executive Director Jonathan Daniels spoke this morning at the Eastern Chapter meeting of the Western Dredging Association (WEDA) at MITAGS and discussed how the MPA - Port of Baltimore is an international leader in the beneficial and innovative reuse of dredged sediment, working with US Army Corps of Engineers to rebuild eroded islands which benefits wildlife and the environment.

The Maryland Port Administration is looking for a motivated, positive, and driven Electro-Mechanical Crane Tech I and also a HVAC - Skilled Trades Specialist to join our Operations Division. This Electro-Mechanical Crane Tech will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of our cranes. From troubleshooting and repairing mechanical and electrical components to performing regular preventative maintenance, this is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic environment. You’ll also learn to observe crane operations, start-up processes, and maintenance procedures to keep the Port running efficiently. The HVAC - Skilled Trades Specialist will perform inspections, preventative maintenance, and necessary repairs, while working from sketches, blueprints, and schematics related to HVAC/R systems. Ports America Chesapeake has announced the Seagirt Terminal main gate will be open this Sunday, October 20 from 7:00 AM to 10:00 AM, excluding exports and all reefer moves. The chassis depot will be closed and the outbound gate will close at 11:00 AM, so please plan accordingly.

Today Executive Director Jonathan Daniels hosted a Maryland Port Administration Town Hall for employees. He spoke on our recovery, on key initiatives like the Howard Street Tunnel double stack rail project and the Mid-Chesapeake Bay Island coastal restoration, and briefed everyone on the Port’s new, 20-year master plan that will grow business and generate additional jobs. After taking questions from employees, he thanked everyone for their efforts during a challenging year and spoke of a very positive future for the Port of Baltimore. Following his remarks, MPA Director of Human Resources John Boden, M.S. spoke to employees on HR-related matters and answered questions.

Maryland Port Administration Executive Director Jonathan Daniels briefed Anne Arundel County officials at tonight’s annual Consolidated Transportation Plan meeting and provided an update on the Port of Baltimore’s ongoing recovery. Truck transactions are nearly back to normal, container volumes are climbing and we’re handling 90% of the ships that we were a year ago. Our cruise ships are once again sailing to exciting locations and we are moving ahead with CSX on the Howard Street Tunnel Project which will provide us with double stack rail capabilities.

Back to work! The nation’s best INTERNATIONAL LONGSHOREMENS ASSOC labor force is at the Port of Baltimore and doing what they do best: handling cargo and helping make sure that our terminals are running as efficiently as possible. Great to have them back we and appreciate their hard work.
