?? "Care Flows Both Ways" – A Campaign to Address Healthcare Workplace Violence ?? Violence against healthcare workers is an urgent issue—75% of workplace assaults happen in healthcare settings, and 80% of nurses have experienced workplace violence in the last year. To address this crisis, the Maryland Patient Safety Center (MPSC) has launched Care Flows Both Ways, a statewide campaign urging respect and kindness toward those who dedicate their lives to patient care. Stephanie Peditto, President & CEO of MPSC, shared the heart of the message in a recent WYPR interview: https://lnkd.in/dXAppu9r “We wanted to remind people that healthcare workers are people just like them...they deserve the same kind of kindness and respect as anyone else, and that's the 'Care Flows Both Ways' part.” This campaign features real Maryland healthcare workers sharing their experiences and encourages all of us to foster a culture of safety and respect in medical settings. Congratulations to the University of Maryland Baltimore Washington Medical Center! We recognize them as a Circle of Honor winner for their submission, "BW CARES: From the Hospital to Home and Beyond." This achievement highlights their commitment to improving patient care and safety across the continuum. “As clinicians, we only interact with patients for a small part of their care journey,” said Jason Heavner, M.D., Senior Vice President and Chief Medical Officer at the University of Maryland Baltimore Washington Medical Center. “Yet self-care and wellness—often offered outside of the hospital—greatly impact overall health. By making resources more accessible and affordable, and recognizing the unique needs of each individual, we can tailor care to fit their lifestyle rather than forcing them into a one-size-fits-all plan. We’re grateful to the Maryland Patient Safety Center for recognizing the importance of a preventive, population-health approach to care in improving health outcomes for the communities we serve.” More information on all the award winners can be found here: https://lnkd.in/eHdrfvdf #PatientSafety #QualityCare #MinogueAwards
