关于我们
Maryland Latinos Unidos (MLU) is a statewide network of organizations, businesses, and individuals who support Latino and immigrant communities. We work within and with the Latino/Hispanic community in Maryland by supporting Latino-serving nonprofits, convening around public policy priorities, and working together in common cause. Maryland Latinos Unidos exists to call attention to the disparities and inequities faced by Latino and immigrant communities, to find solutions, and to address these problems with coordinated action. MLU is not providing direct services – we are prioritizing the capacity-building of our grassroots Hispanic-serving organizations to ensure that all Latinos access necessary services. Collectively, we can accomplish more. Become a member and see how much we can do together!

You're Invited: Town Hall on Maryland’s Blueprint Plan – What’s in it for Immigrant Students and Families? Transforming Education for Maryland’s Multilingual Learners Maryland’s $4 billion Blueprint for the Future is set to revolutionize education with investments in early learning programs, college and career readiness, and wrap-around supports for students and families. But what does this mean for Multilingual Learners (MLs), the fastest-growing student population in our schools? The data is clear: Nearly 70% of Latine students in Maryland are not proficient in English Language Arts. Close to 90% of Latine students are not proficient in Math. To address these gaps and create a more equitable future, it is critical to ensure that MLs are at the forefront of education reform. Join Us for a Town Hall Meeting ?? Date: December 4th ?? Special Guest: Dr. Carey Wright, Maryland State Superintendent of Schools ?? Location: https://lnkd.in/ew98RtFj What to Expect: Insights from teachers, students, and policy experts on culturally responsive teaching, family engagement, and initiatives like the literacy plan. Updates on the development of policies and strategies to improve outcomes for MLs and their families. An opportunity to share your experiences and input on what’s needed to transform public education for immigrant families. Be part of the solution! We also invite you to join the Community WELL coalition, co-sponsors of this event, and collaborate with MSDE on new strategies for MLs under the Blueprint Plan. Your voice matters. Your input is essential. Together, we can ensure all students have the resources they need to thrive. Mark your calendar and join us on December 4th!
